I have a couple of Les' drawing up behind my desk. Great ones with multiple geometric shapes labelled and classified.

right now i only have the one, the one he's holding here. it's sitting over my desk too! i like it a lot. he's such an interesting and disarming guy, such a kind soul. i really like his drawings.

He definitely looks interesting, and a bit "off", too. You definitely captured a some "whack job" vibe here,

that's unfortunate.

Yeah, maybe it is. I don't mean to insult the guy, though.

What I see is a disheveled guy, holding a strange cosmic doodle, carrying a plastic bag, on a dark and deserted street (perhaps even under a bridge). All that, to me, adds up to you-know-what.

"I don't mean to insult the guy, though."

you sure about that? it's unclear to me what about "whack job" isn't insulting.

"adds up to you-know-what"

no, i don't know what that adds up to, actually, and i was there. but apparently you do, and yet you weren't there. interesting.

stephen, i apologize for snapping there, but it's a sensitive issue to me. i've spent a lot of time in my life very close to people with "mental illness", and to those who work with the psychologically different, with those on the margins of society, and terms like "whack job" just rub me the wrong way, entirely.

obviously, this photo conveys something of les's marginality and originality. i was hoping it would also convey his charm, his gentleness and his creative spirit. i was REALLY hoping it wouldn't draw slurs (or what i consider to be a slur) such as "whack job".

That picture he's holding......isn't it the same on as the man is holding in your "me holding cosmic star - photo by les"?
Dang. It looks exactly like it.

(And the guy doesn't look like a whack job. He looks serious. He's concentrating on being serious. Honestly.)
